Arch control
In Review
Managing how much the arch of the foot flattens under load, and how quickly it recovers. The arch is meant to lower on landing to absorb shock and then rise again to make the foot stiff for push-off; control means governing that cycle, not holding the arch rigid. Tibialis posterior and peroneus longus manage it from above, the small muscles of the sole and the plantar fascia from below. Good looks like: the arch lowering smoothly on contact and re-forming for push-off, the heel staying roughly upright, and the big toe able to press the floor. Losing it changes the alignment of everything above.
