In Review

The upper arm is the single long bone of the humerus with the biceps and brachialis in front and the triceps behind — the segment that bends and straightens the elbow while carrying whatever the hand is holding. Because its muscles span both the shoulder and the elbow, trouble here rarely stays put. People come to a therapist for the upper arm because of strain after lifting or throwing, aching down the front of the arm that traces back to the shoulder, and weakness or fatigue with repeated carrying.
