Scapular retraction
Reviewed by Dr. Ryan Rietz, D.P.T. and Dr. John Breyman, D.C.
Drawing the shoulder blades toward the spine. The middle trapezius and the rhomboids pull the blade in along the ribs. Good looks like: the blades sliding in and staying flat against the ribcage, with the shoulders staying down and the neck quiet — not a shrug, and not the ribs flaring forward to fake the range.
