In Review

The thigh is built around the femur, the longest and strongest bone in the body, with the quadriceps in front, the hamstrings behind, the adductors inside, and the iliotibial band running down the outside. Its muscles cross both the hip and the knee, so they steer and brake the whole leg rather than simply moving one joint. People come to a therapist for the thigh because of hamstring strain from sprinting, front-of-thigh tightness that pulls on the knee, inner-thigh groin strain, and outer-thigh tightness blamed on the IT band.
