Distal radioulnar joint

Articulatio radioulnaris distalis

The pivot at the wrist end of the forearm, where the radius swings around the head of the ulna. It is the partner of the joint at the elbow end: together they produce the whole of turning the palm up and down. A triangular fibrocartilage disc slings the two bones together and separates this joint from the wrist proper — which is also why the ulna does not itself touch the carpal bones.
