Force absorption
In Review
Accepting and dissipating impact — landing from a jump, taking a stair, or stopping quickly. The ankle, knee and hip give in sequence so the load is spread across all three and across time rather than dumped into one tissue. Good looks like: a quiet landing, the hips and knees bending together, the knees tracking over the feet, the heels arriving under control, and the trunk staying stacked. Landing stiff, or letting the knees fall inward, concentrates force exactly where injuries happen.
