Gluteus medius TrP1
In Review
A buttock muscle that produces back pain. The gluteus medius' most posterior points sit just below the back of the pelvic rim, near the dimple most people can find at the top of their buttock, and they refer along the crest of the pelvis and into the sacrum — territory the client calls their low back. It is one of the most common and most overlooked contributors to low back pain, and it is overlooked for a structural reason: nobody examining a low back thinks to press on a buttock. The founder's system converges on the same muscle from the other direction, naming the glute med outright on its lower-body WEAK list and giving the muscle's job, in its own muscle map, as hip abduction and pelvic stability.
