Gluteus medius TrP2

In Review

The gluteus medius' middle point, and the lateral hip pain that comes with it. It sits higher and further out than TrP1, above the greater trochanter, and it refers through the mid buttock and out over the side of the hip into the upper outer thigh. This is the pain of standing on one leg, climbing stairs and lying on that side at night — and it is the pattern that most often gets called trochanteric bursitis, because tenderness over the point of the hip is exactly what that diagnosis is built from. The muscle is directly under the hand there.
