Pronator teres

Musculus pronator teres

In Review

A short muscle running diagonally across the top of the forearm that turns the palm downward. It has two heads, and the median nerve dives between them on its way into the forearm — a well-known site where the nerve can be compressed, producing forearm ache and hand symptoms that mimic carpal tunnel but start higher up. Its humeral head shares the common flexor origin at the inner elbow, so it is part of the tissue involved in what people call golfer's elbow.
