Scaphocapitate ligament

A deep band on the palm side of the carpus tying the scaphoid to the body of the capitate. The scaphoid is the one carpal bone that bridges both rows, and it tends to tip forward whenever the wrist is loaded; this is one of the tethers that stops it. It lies within the substance of the palmar capsule rather than free inside the joint, so it becomes visible only once the capsule is opened and cannot be palpated at all. Its short course is the point: it holds two bones that must stay in register while the rows around them glide.
