Single-leg stability

In Review

Holding the pelvis and knee steady while all the body's weight is on one leg. The hip abductors on the standing side must stop the opposite hip dropping, and the glutes and the foot must stop the knee falling inward. Good looks like: a level pelvis, the kneecap tracking over the middle of the foot, the arch holding, and the trunk staying upright without leaning over the standing leg. It matters because walking and running are just single-leg stance repeated — half of gait is spent on one foot — so a fault that is invisible on two legs shows up here first, and shows up as knee, hip or lower back pain later.
