Superior gluteal artery

Arteria glutea superior

The superior gluteal artery is the largest branch of the internal iliac artery and the main blood supply to the upper buttock. It leaves the pelvis through the greater sciatic foramen above piriformis, travelling with the superior gluteal nerve, and supplies gluteus medius, gluteus minimus and tensor fasciae latae — the same muscles that nerve drives.
