Muscle knots and trigger points
In Review
A knot is not a tangle in the muscle. It is a small patch of muscle that never got the message to switch off — held at a low-level contraction for hours at a time, it stops getting the circulation it needs, and it starts sending pain somewhere else entirely. That is why the spot that is sore and the spot that hurts are often not the same place. Knots are a report on how you have been holding yourself, not a fault in the tissue.
