Upper trapezius TrP2

The upper trapezius' second point, and the reason it is worth knowing that the first one is not the only one. It lies below and lateral to TrP1 — deeper in the muscle, past the free edge that can be pinched — and it refers to the posterolateral neck without carrying on into the temple the way TrP1 does. That difference is the whole clinical value of the record. A therapist who finds the famous point, releases it, and leaves a client whose neck still aches has often simply not gone far enough down the muscle. The two points are neighbours doing different jobs, and only one of them is a headache.
