Depressor supercilii

Musculus depressor supercilii

A small strip at the inner end of the eyebrow that pulls the brow straight down. It runs from the bone at the inner corner of the eye socket up into the skin of the medial eyebrow, close alongside the corrugator, and many anatomists describe it as a specialised part of the eye's ring muscle rather than a separate muscle in its own right. It works with the corrugator and procerus as the brow-lowering group opposing the forehead muscle above. Its practical significance is that three small muscles crowd into the space between the eyebrows, which is why that patch of forehead is disproportionately expressive.
