Distal commissural ligament

The outer of the two transverse bands of a finger web, lying at the free edge of the commissure where the skin arches from one digit across to the next. It runs parallel to the proximal commissural ligament a short distance behind it and is continuous with the natatory fibres crossing the bases of the fingers. Like every part of the palmar fascia here it attaches to no bone; it binds skin and fascia to each other. The digital nerves and vessels diverge into the neighbouring fingers beneath it, so the band lies superficial to the structures it appears to cross.
