Musculus corrugator supercilii

A small pyramid of muscle hidden at the inner end of each eyebrow, lying deep to the forehead muscle and the eye's ring muscle. It runs from the brow ridge outward and upward into the skin above the middle of the eyebrow, so pulling on it drags the eyebrow inwards and down and throws the skin between the brows into the vertical creases of a frown. It is the direct antagonist of the frontal belly of the forehead muscle, which lifts the same eyebrow, so where the eyebrow sits at rest is a balance struck between the two rather than a fixed position.
