Medial femoral condyle

Condylus medialis femoris

The medial femoral condyle is the rounded inner knuckle at the bottom of the thigh bone; it and its lateral partner are the two rockers that roll and glide on the top of the shin to make the knee bend. It is the larger of the two and projects further down, which is part of why the thigh bone angles inwards from hip to knee. The medial collateral ligament anchors on its side, the medial head of the gastrocnemius takes origin from the back of it, and the adductor magnus attaches to the small tubercle on top of it.
