Pes anserinus

The pes anserinus — Latin for 'goose's foot' — is the fan-shaped sheet of tendon on the inner side of the shin just below the knee, where three tendons arrive side by side and blend into the bone. The three come from three different places on the pelvis: the sartorius from the front point of the hip, the gracilis from the pubic bone, and the semitendinosus from the sit bone. Between them they cross both the hip and the knee from three directions, and all three help stop the knee collapsing inwards. A bursa lies underneath the sheet.
