Palmar ulnocarpal ligament

Ligamentum ulnocarpale palmare

The fibres that hang the ulnar half of the carpus from the ulna. They rise from the palmar edge of the triangular fibrocartilage complex and the base of the ulnar styloid, then divide into bands reaching the lunate and the triquetral — hence the names ulnolunate and ulnotriquetral given to its parts. Where the radiocarpal ligaments tether the carpus to the radius, this one tethers it on the ulnar side, completing a continuous palmar hammock beneath the wrist. It lies deep to the long flexor tendons and cannot be reached from the surface at any point.
