Pubofemoral ligament

Ligamentum pubofemorale

The ligament running from the pubic part of the rim of the hip socket and the neighbouring pubic bone downward and outward to blend with the front and underside of the hip capsule. It fills the gap between the iliofemoral ligament above it and the ischiofemoral behind, so that the three together wrap the neck of the femur in a spiral. It is the one that tightens when the leg is taken out to the side, and it is slack when the hip is bent.
