Talonavicular ligament

Ligamentum talonaviculare

The dorsal ligament of the joint between the talus and the navicular — a broad thin band from the neck of the talus to the top of the navicular, covering that joint from above. The joint it reinforces is one half of the transverse tarsal joint, the line across the middle of the foot at which the forefoot turns on the hindfoot; the other half lies to the outer side, between heel bone and cuboid. Support from below comes from the spring ligament and from the inner side from the deltoid ligament, so this band is the roof rather than the floor of a joint whose main restraints are elsewhere.
