Dorsal calcaneocuboid ligaments

Ligamentum calcaneocuboideum dorsale

Thin bands on the upper outer edge of the foot joining the front of the heel bone to the back of the cuboid. They are the slightest of the several structures holding that joint: the lateral limb of the bifurcate ligament crosses above them, and the long and short plantar ligaments below are far stronger. The joint they cover is the outer half of the midtarsal joint — the line the foot pivots on between hindfoot and forefoot — so it is a small ligament in a busy place. Its own contribution is mainly to keep the top of the joint capsule taut while the foot twists beneath it.
