Trendelenburg test

In Review

A single-leg standing test of the hip abductors — chiefly gluteus medius and minimus, which anchor the pelvis over the standing leg. When they cannot hold, the pelvis on the unsupported side sags or the trunk lurches toward the stance leg to compensate. It is a quick read on the muscles that keep the pelvis level through every step of walking.
