Palmar radioulnar ligament

Ligamentum radioulnare palmare

The palm-side partner of the dorsal radioulnar ligament, running along the front edge of the ulnar notch of the radius to the base of the ulnar styloid. Like its twin it is a thickened border of the triangular fibrocartilage complex rather than a separate structure, so the disc lying between the ulna and the carpus is really a sheet with a stout cord along each edge. Both cords converge on the same small area at the base of the ulnar styloid, which makes that spot the key anchor for the entire complex. Between them they are the soft-tissue reason the forearm has a stable pivot to rotate around at its wrist end.
