Arteria tibialis posterior

The posterior tibial artery is one of the popliteal artery's two terminal branches, running down the deep back of the calf to supply the calf muscles and, ultimately, the sole of the foot. It passes behind the inner ankle bone in the tarsal tunnel with the tibial nerve, where its pulse can be felt — one of the two standard checks of circulation to the foot — and then divides into the plantar arteries of the sole.
