Anterior sacroiliac ligament

Ligamentum sacroiliacum anterius

The front wall of the sacroiliac joint's capsule, thickened into a ligament — a flat sheet passing from the front and side of the sacrum across to the margin of the ilium's joint surface. It is much the thinnest of the sacroiliac ligaments; the real strength of this joint lies behind it. The lumbosacral nerve trunk and the obturator nerve pass close to its front surface as they run down into the pelvis.
