Pelvis

In Review

The pelvis is the ring of bone — two hip bones, the sacrum and the coccyx — that transfers everything the legs do into the spine, closed underneath by the pelvic floor. It is meant to be stable rather than mobile: the sacroiliac joints move only a few millimetres, and that is the point. People come to a therapist for the pelvis because of one-sided pain beside the tailbone or over the back of the ring, groin and pubic ache, discomfort with single-leg loading like stairs or rolling in bed, and pelvic floor changes after pregnancy.
