Medial metatarsosesamoid ligament

The inner-side mirror of the lateral band, tying the medial (tibial) sesamoid to the inner side of the first metatarsal head. The medial sesamoid is the larger of the two and lies directly beneath the line the great toe pushes along, so this is the busier corner of the complex. Along with the intersesamoid band between the two bones and the phalangeosesamoid bands in front, it forms the sling that suspends the sesamoids under the joint while still letting them glide. Its own restraint is against the sesamoid sliding towards the midline of the foot, off its groove.
