Nervus gluteus inferior

The inferior gluteal nerve has a single target: gluteus maximus, the body's most powerful hip extensor. It leaves the pelvis below piriformis alongside the sciatic nerve and immediately enters the deep surface of the muscle. It carries no skin sensation, so loss of it produces no numbness — only difficulty with the movements gluteus maximus dominates: rising from a chair, climbing stairs and running.
