Plantar cuneocuboid ligament

Ligamentum cuneocuboideum plantare

Lies on the sole between the cuboid and the lateral cuneiform, deep beneath the long plantar ligament and the tendons that cross the arch. Like the other plantar bands of the midfoot it is shorter and thicker than the dorsal ligament it mirrors, and it takes reinforcing slips from the tibialis posterior tendon. Its restraint is against those two bones separating downward — the direction the midfoot is pushed every time the arch takes bodyweight. It is one of a series of small, strong bands that make the whole outer column of the foot behave as a single piece of bone.
