Pubic tubercle

Tuberculum pubicum

The pubic tubercle is a small forward-pointing knob on the upper border of the pubic bone, a couple of centimetres out from the midline. The inguinal ligament anchors to it and runs from here up and out to the ASIS, which makes the tubercle the landmark clinicians use to find the inguinal canal. The lower fibres of the rectus abdominis attach beside it, and the adductor longus takes origin just below it.
