Coracohumeral ligament

Ligamentum coracohumerale

A broad band from the outer edge of the coracoid process spreading sideways to the front of the humerus, where it splits to reach both the greater and the lesser tubercle and bridges the groove carrying the biceps tendon between them. It roofs the rotator interval — the triangular gap between the supraspinatus and subscapularis tendons — and blends with both. Its most useful property is what it does when the arm simply hangs: it is the tissue that keeps the head of the humerus from sagging out of its socket under the weight of the limb.
