Coracoid process

Processus coracoideus

The coracoid process is a short finger of bone that hooks forwards from the top of the shoulder blade, sitting just below the outer third of the collarbone. Three muscles use it: the pectoralis minor inserts onto it from the ribs below, and the short head of the biceps and the coracobrachialis both take origin from its tip and run down the arm. The coracoacromial ligament also spans from it back to the acromion, completing an arch of bone and ligament over the head of the humerus.
