Greater tubercle

Tuberculum majus

The greater tubercle is the bony knob on the outer side of the top of the arm bone, just below the tip of the shoulder and under the deltoid. It carries three small facets, and three of the four rotator cuff muscles land on them in order: supraspinatus on the top facet, infraspinatus behind it, teres minor below that. It is also the part of the humerus that travels up towards the acromion as the arm lifts.
