Medial plantar nerve

Nervus plantaris medialis

The larger of the tibial nerve's two terminal branches, and the foot's equivalent of the median nerve in the hand — the resemblance goes as far as the number of digits it serves. It passes into the sole deep to abductor hallucis, runs forward between that muscle and flexor digitorum brevis with the medial plantar artery, and supplies four intrinsic muscles on the inner side of the sole before ending as digital nerves to the medial three and a half toes. Its sensory territory covers the medial two-thirds of the sole, so it carries most of the information your foot sends back about the ground.
